Gemma Pearson

I am a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Forensic Psychologist chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I offer psychological services in Market Harborough and online. I am accredited in a number of therapeutic approaches. I have over twenty years’ experience of offering a wide range of therapy to both individuals and groups.

My training as a psychologist involved completion of a Batchelor degree and Masters degree. I then completed further training, to the equivalent of Doctoral level, to gain chartership with the BPS and registration with the HCPC to use the protected title of Forensic Psychologist.  The ten years of training I completed means I have experience in a large range of areas.

Psychologists differ from Counsellors/ Psychotherapists as we have specialist skills in the assessment of individuals. We are qualified to complete specific assessments which can lead to a diagnosis – for example for Personality Disorder or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The level of training taken means that Psychologists are also able to offer long term therapy for complex, persistent disorders.

Psychological Services offered:

I have spent many years supporting individuals who have faced various forms of trauma, whether it’s a single distressing event or the ongoing effects of complex trauma from childhood experiences. I understand how deeply these experiences can affect your life. Through the use of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), I strive to provide a compassionate and effective approach to help you heal from PTSD and anxiety disorders.

I am passionate in helping individuals break free from distressing patterns of behaviour that they find difficult to change. These patterns may often be associated with Personality Disorders. My expertise includes providing support for anxiety, depression, and OCD, along with addressing anger management, substance misuse, and relationship challenges. I use a diverse range of approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs. These include Schema Therapy, EMDR and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Additionally, I incorporate techniques such as mindfulness and compassion-based practices to support you on your path to change. For more information about my services, please visit my therapy pages.

I have over twenty years of experience offering psychological assessment and expert witness reports.  These can cover mental health assessment, personality disorder, cognitive and forensic risk assessment.

I am a member of the British Psychological Society Register for Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPs) and have supervised a range of individuals including psychologists, trainee’s, healthcare staff and Prison staff.
